When is Luskintyre open ?

Saturday is our main day, but the airfield is usually attended 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday.

What is the entry fee ?

There is no entry fee, but we'd be delighted to accept a gold coin donation towards the upkeep of the museum collection.

What can I expect to see ?

DH-82A Tiger Moths and other vintage aircraft in flying condition and under restoration, and a small but interesting collection of memorabillia belonging to the Luskintyre Aviation Flying Museum collection. If it's a Saturday you can expect to see some flying.

Are air shows ever held at Luskintyre ?

No, but the next best thing is a casual event we hold on the first Saturday of each month called "Lunch with the Tiger Moths". Weather permitting you'll hear the drone of Gipsy Major engines and see some of these magnificent aircraft in the air. Sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches, tea, coffee and softdrinks are available at lunchtime for those interested, or you can bring your own picnic lunch. Lunch with the Tiger Moths is taking a short break until July 2011 due to a shortage of volunteers.

Can I get a ride in a Tiger Moth ?

We get asked this question a lot. Saturdays are flying days when the weather is good. Aircraft are privately owned and flown by owners for fun. You may be able to get a ride if you're there at the right time on a nice day. It is impractical to make any arrangements in advance for a flight due to owner availability and weather conditions.

Can I stay overnight ?

Accommodation is available at nearby B&Bs, motels and pubs. A bunk-house is available at the airfield by prior arrangement and subject to availability. Flying clubs and groups can be accommodated if adequate notice is given.

How do I get there by aeroplane ?

We are located 4Nm west of the Maitland Aerodrome (Maitland - YMND, NSW). Maitland has two sealed runways, runway lighting on RWY 05/23, and is serviced by the West Maitland VOR NDB Navaid.

How do I get there by car ?

1. Go to Lochinvar on the New England Hwy between Maitland and Branxton (east of Singleton).
2. At Lochinvar turn onto 'Windemere Road' - just west of the Lochinvar Pub.
3. Turn left at 'Luskintyre Road' and follow it over the bridge and to the next intersection.
4. At the intersection continue straight ahead along 'Pywells Road' and follow it through a right turn until you reach the Luskintyre Aviation Flying Museum at 252 Pywells Road.
5. Proceed up the gravel driveway until you come to the carpark in front of the main hangar. Lock your car and walk to the other side of the main hangar where you will see some activity.

Where are the nearest shops ?

Rutherford is 14Km away and has a number of services including: Aldi, BP Service Station, BWS bottleshop, Chemist shop, Coles, IGA, KFC, McDonalds, Oporto, and Woolworths. A factory outlet complex is also at Rutherford with several large name retailers.
